Big-Way Camp: Event 1

Spaceland will host a two-day big-way camp on November 1-2, 2007. This camp is for everyone who has thought about participating in big-way formation skydiving, skydivers who would like to get invited to big-way events, skydivers wanting to learn more about big-ways, or those who just want to brush up on their big-way skills.

Formation load, big-way camp at Skydive Spaceland

The camp will include:

  • 12 formation loads from 13,000 feet
  • 2 formation loads from 15,000 feet with oxygen
  • Aircraft: two Super Otters and a Grand Caravan
  • Big-way seminars on the following topics:
    • Efficient plane exiting
    • Using the stadium approach to the formation
    • Use of formation keys
    • Tracking
    • Docking on big-way formations
    • Big-way safety
    • Use of oxygen

Event captains will be Tom Jenkins, Kate Cooper, Larry Henderson, Scott Elmer and Jim Alkek.

Registration will be limited to the maximum Spaceland lift capacity. Depending on the camp registration total, formation sizes will be 20-ways and 40-ways. Register online at www.bigways.com or www.texasstaterecord.com (look for the "Application Form" link in the navigation if you haven't used this site before). Please note that registration does not insure you a slot. You will be contacted by the captains after they have reviewed your application.

The cost of the big-way camp will be $364.00 per person.

Minimum requirements for applicants:

  • 300 or more formation skydiving jumps
  • Proven ability to perform safely in 10 way and larger formations
  • Proven canopy skills
  • 100% team players

Texas 44s/Top Talent Sequential RW Invitational: Event 2

Spaceland will host a Top Talent Sequential RW Invitational on November 3-4, 2007. This invitational is for experienced big-way and competition jumpers only, and space is very limited. Some of the jumpers who attend the November big-way camp and receive a captain's recommendation may be invited to participate in the Top Talent Sequential Invitational.

The camp will include:

  • 14 jumps from 18,000 feet with oxygen
  • Aircraft: two Super Otters and a Grand Caravan
  • New, challenging formations that will produce great photos

Captains will be Tom Jenkins, Kate Cooper, Larry Henderson, Scott Elmer and Jim Alkek.

Registration will be limited to the maximum Spaceland lift capacity. Depending on the registration totals, the formations will be 40-ways to 44-ways (possibly larger).
